Currently my group is having a bit of trouble deciding whether we should stick with our initial idea or not. The MouseCase idea was to essentially create a case with a sensor on it and to create an app that goes with the case which contains the right click, left click, and scroll of the mouse. Although a great idea, we were having trouble as to what type of salient idea this innovation would serve. Aside from students and workers this idea is not serving to a great deal of diverse people. It would not be cost effective either because the people buying this type of product would not need to really "worry" about the price of a mouse. In theory it is a cool product, but it does not affect the market as much as we hope it to do so.
Instead, we have decided to go a different route with the PosturePack. The PosturePack is a bookbag that will help posture not only for the elderly, but everyday students. This medical device will be helpful for students, the disabled, and for people with back problems. The idea serves to a greater salient identity and also addresses disability which is important to consider in a universal design. The larger scale issue in the PosturePack is that these types of products are usually catered towards elderly with brittle bones. The idea behind creating the bag is so that it changes how bags are made overall, not just for one age group.
