Phase 1, Post 8: Midterm Group ~Diversity/Prototype

Although the group I am working with for the Midterm project are all my friends, we are each individuals and have different identities. We are all Muslim, but come from different backgrounds, cultures, and places. We all grew up in relatively different areas, yet socioeconomically similar. We have different, yet similar traditions at home. We are from different countries, yet we all originated from the same region/country. We have our similarities, but we are also different and diverse in our own ways.

My parents are from Pakistan. I grew up in New Jersey. A lot of the way I am and my personality is based off of the way I was brought up by my parents and the people I was surrounded by as most people are. Rabiya's parents are from India and she grew up in Virginia, while Abid's parents are from Bangladesh and he grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh were once part of India, which is why we have similar cultures. However, they are also very different. The traditions and languages are slightly different. Overall we are able to compare and contrast our similarities and differences and that makes us each different and diverse from one another.

The prototype idea we've decided on is an app/phone case combo to turn your phone into a mouse for your laptop - this way you wouldn't need to carry around an extra mouse. Essentially there would be a sensor and grips that are usually on a mouse on the back of your phone case so that it would be able to move and work like an actual mouse. The app designed for the prototype would be connected to the phone case bought. The app would have the controls such as the left and right buttons and the scroll. The way we are breaking down our project is as follows:

Rabiya will make the sensor for the back of the phone case.

Abid will create the app containing the mouse ideals.

I will create/design the looks alike product.

Overall, we will consult each other in different aspects of the project for it to come together in the end.
